The Strengthening Business and Human Rights Awareness and Capacity Building of Civil Society Actors project is a collaborative effort led by the Business and Human Rights Association (BHRTR) and the European Neighbourhood Council (ENC). Both organizations bring their expertise to support civil society in promoting responsible business conduct.
The European Neighbourhood Council (ENC) is an independent, non-profit think tank established in 2016, dedicated to fostering dialogue, research, and capacity building across the European Union and its wider neighbourhood. ENC works to strengthen the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), EU Enlargement Policy, and the EU’s Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy by promoting shared democratic values, human rights, and international cooperation.
ENC supports civil society actors, public institutions, and local communities through research publications, training, stakeholder engagement, and multi-stakeholder platforms that promote transparency, accountability, and responsible governance. Its activities aim to bridge policy gaps between EU Member States, Accession Countries, ENP countries, and the broader region – including Central Asia, the Gulf, and the Sahel – thereby enhancing inclusive cooperation, regional stability, and resilience.
Backed by a cross-regional Academic Council and a diverse network of experts, ENC delivers practical training tools, digital resources, and policy dialogue in thematic areas such as sustainable development, civic engagement, foreign policy, and education. Its mission is to facilitate knowledge-sharing and empower local actors to advocate for fundamental rights and responsible business conduct, while advancing a stable and democratic Wider Europe.
